it's a joy

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."

And back to Italy.

Continuing our walking tour of Ancient Rome...

For the rest of our walking tour, we left the Roman Forum and headed to the townhall, which was appropriately nick-named the "Wedding Cake" or the "Typewriter". I forgot who that big statue is. Let's just say it was someone important....that's safe.

Next, we walked past the balcony from which Benito Mussolini made his very famous speech.

We then returned to the Pantheon and then onto the Fountain of Trevi. I didn't take any more pictures of the Pantheon because the square was crazy crowded. Something about the Prime Minister visiting. But, we did get to throw our coins into the Fountain of Trevi. Our tour guide said if you throw one in, you will return to Rome. If you throw two in, you will fall in love in Rome. If you throw three in, you will be married in Rome. We opted for the one coin...

Apparently I had to stick my tongue out to throw it in JUST the right spot.

Seriously, isn't he the cutest? Ok ok....I'll quit.

After our tour, we went back to our AC-blessed hotel room to keep from turning into a puddle. After we had cooled off a little, we headed back out to find the Spanish steps and some dinner.

The steps where just "meh...ok". There was some sort of pub crawl or something about to happen, so it was full of punk kids rarin' to get drunk. I was unimpressed and didn't even want to find a place to eat, so after walking around a bit, we got back on the subway and went back to our "hood" to find a place to eat. We ate at a tiny street cafe right by our hotel. The waiter asked if we were on our honeymoon and ended up bringing us some complimentary Limoncello. It was sweet of him.

More tomorrow on our trip back to see the guts of the Colosseum.
