it's a joy

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."

A Conversation of One

And now I will complain about the very thing I am going to write about. Um....yeah.

I've become one of "those girls". I'm not quite sure it's at the Bridezilla status yet, but if I was a friend in my life right now I would be all like, "Dude. Stop it. You're out of control." You know what I'm talking about. Because if you read my infrequent and bland ramblings here lately, you know what has been the topic of conversation and what saturates the oxygen I breathe and every neuron connection in my brain. And (if you haven't already closed your browser) you're all, "Chick, if you say the word 'wedding' one more time, I'm going to rip off your lips and stuff them up your nose and how will THAT look in your pictures while you're standing in your gorgeous dress next to you hot new husband??"

This is basically every conversation of my day:
Person other then me: How's it going?
Me: Oh my gosh, I'm SO tired and I'm so busy planning and we FINALLY got our engagement shots done and we got two wedding presents in the mail yesterday and I did my final fitting and I finally have my dress oh my gosh my dress is so beautiful and it's hanging in my bedroom RIGHT NOW can you believe it it's almost here I can tell you down to the second how long it is until my wedding do you want to know because I'll tell you and I'll tell you every crazy story that is going on in my life because they are all freakin' HILARIOUS because they have to do with MY wedding which is so important that I have to tell you every single detail....(continues on blathering for 20 minutes)
Person other then me: *wide eyes, drool gathering on quivering bottom lip*
Me: *deep breath* Yeah, so anyway, how's it going with you?
Person other then me: ...um...*sound of crickets*
Me: Yeah, ok. I'll talk to you later.

Then I turn and walk away and say to myself, "Dang it, I can't beLIEVE I just did that again. Are you capable of having a normal semi-unselfish conversation anymore??"

Today, this actually happened across...a parking lot!

I was never gonna be this girl. What happened? Soon it will be over, my friends...and we will all be out of our misery.

Yeah, so anyway, how's it going with you?

We all look like we feel

I couldn't think of a title, so I just put whatever lyrics were running through my head. It's from the song Jerod and I will be dancing to at our wedding reception. I'll let you figure it out...

Just some random updates:

I watched Anna get married this weekend. She looked scared....but happy. :) Congrats Anna!

Just so you know, bike tire repair kits don't work on air mattress leaks. My dad was right. His answer to the question, "How do you fix a hole in an air mattress?" was "Buy a new air mattress." Fathers most of the time really do know best...
R.I.P. my favorite-of-all-time air mattress. We had a good run.

If you want to get us a wedding gift, I have an idea for you.

When you say "Please RSVP" people don't really pay attention to that. I'm not trying to be snotty by saying that. It's just an observation. I'm actually the worst of those people. I'm very inconsiderate when it comes to RSVP'ing. I'm going to be different from now on...
Of course it could also be our cleverly hidden RSVP card too...we're tricky like that...

I'm busy. Wedding planning keeps you freakin' busy! Lots of tiny details to work out. But, I'm having fun. The more planning gets done, the more excited I get.

(Sorry for the one-tract mind. Work is my only distraction from something wedding related scheduled EVERY EVENING, so this is what I do on my lunch break....write about wedding stuff. I'm a smart one...)

Oh Oh!! Here's something non-wedding related! Every weekday morning while I'm driving to pick up Jerod on my way to work, I listen to 106.7's pop trivia game. Love it! Anyway, this morning I decided on a whim to call in and try to win. And I totally won! Whoo hoo me!! Can you answer these questions? I only got two of them, but that's all you need to win.
Who plays the washed up bowler in Kingpin?
Who trades places with Dan Akroyd in Trading Places?
What was the original name of the soap opera One Life to Live?

Some other exciting (non-wedding related) news is developing, but I can't say anything until it's official...how's that for an annoying sentence? More later...

These are the days of our lives

One year and three months ago, Jerod and I went on our first date.

One year ago today, my Grandma Howe left us to be with her savior.

Yesterday, we received news that my future in-laws have the opportunity to move much much closer to us.

Yesterday, my Grandpa Howe was admitted to the hospital. (He's fine, by the way. Just there overnight for observation.)

Today, is the first day of summer.

Tomorrow, I will have been engaged for eight months.

In ten days, my big sister will turn 29. (For the first time.)

In 23 days, I will be an old married woman.

In one month, I will be in Italy.

Things can change so fast and so dramatically, can't they? I agree with Melodee. Time IS weird.

Love is in the air...

This weekend I had the opportunity to attend my friend Brian's wedding in Bozeman. It was incredibly beautiful and to see what they pulled off in the short time they had to plan was quite impressive. My wedding is in 8 months (to the day) and I'm already stressin'. It was really a great time and I got to see some of my dear friends that I've really been missing over the last couple years. The really exciting thing was being able to introduce Jerod to those that haven't met him yet. I actually got to the point of saying, "This is my fiancé, Jerod" to people without freaking out. I'm kind of getting used to the idea of being engaged, I guess.

People keep asking me if I'm excited for my wedding. Of course I am, but at the same time it seems like such a long time and I don't want to get too excited for it so it seems like the wait is even longer. The wedding this weekend scared me a little because as I was watching the bride walk down the aisle I realized, "Crap, everyone in this room is looking at that poor girl walk down the aisle....wait....that's gonna be ME in 8 months." Now, you non-introvert people that don't have this kind of paranoia don't understand this, but that is INCREDIBLE stressful for me to think about. But it made it all ok when I watched them make their vows to each other and their smiles on their faces. And then the reception was so fun to watch them dance and laugh and smile. It was hard to not get romantic after watching that.

Unfortunately, I committed the mortal sin of forgetting my camera at home so I don't even have any cool pictures to post. Bummer.

I hope he doesn't mind me telling the world

So, Jerod and I were in the Olive Garden the other night "celebrating" our 6 month marker from when we FIRST ate there (which also happened to be our first date). We had just finished eating and I ran to the restroom. As I was coming out, I saw very familiar figure sitting down waiting in the lobby-area. He looked up and his jaw dropped to the floor the same as mine. Who was this guy that lives in WYOMING and who I haven't seen in almost a YEAR and who would never come through Billings without calling and tell ME. Yep, it was the one and only Matthew Rocchio. I walk up to him, cock my head and say, "You are SO busted." And in true Matthew form, he stumbles over his words for a minute and finally blurts out in one big run-on sentence. "I'm just passing through and I'm here with my girlfriend." His WHAT?? So, after we kind of get over the shock of seeing each other, I invite him and his GIRLFRIEND over to sit with Jerod and I. Bizarre bizarre bizarre. It just struck me then. Life changes so quickly. We can be living our lives every day by boring day, and all of a sudden, I'm sitting there with one of my best friends exchanging ackward chit-chat in front of these other two very important additional people in our lives. I didn't ask for the change. I'm actually quite scared of the change (ask Jerod about my freak-out moments). But God has put it here in my path and I just have to go with it. And I could definitely use some prayers as I face some major forks in the road soon. Which path to take?? And WHEN to take it?

Oh, and Matthew, if you ever read this, Melissa seems VERY lovely and I am excited to get to know her better. It was nice chatting with you and let's SERIOUSLY talk about the pillow idea in November....that is, IF you ever get invited to a certain wedding happening in November....
