it's a joy

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."

Siena

The next city we headed to was Siena. We wanted to go here because it is in the middle of Tuscany and it is a small(ish) town that we could relax in. And that's just what we did. Since there wasn't much to the city center, we found ourselves relaxing and sitting and people-watching a lot more. SOOOO much different then a few days earlier when we were in Rome. This is what I loved about our trip. People ask what our favorite part was, but it's so hard to answer because every city was so different with a different feel. Siena was our relaxing city. There aren't a TON of pictures because while we were there, it involved a lot of sitting and drinking wine...

This is the town hall with it's MASSIVE bell tower. This thing was ridiculously tall. They had the option of climbing up into it, but hey, we were relaxin'! Needless to say, we didn't attempt that hike.

The town square was really cool. It was actually a half-circle that faced the town hall. And it was on an incline, so it actually worked well to sit down in and people watch.

This is when we were sitting in the square trying to cool off and enjoying the people-watching.

And here are some of the people that we were watching...little kids chasing the pigeons.

Here is a picture of their Duomo. This was a really unique church because the columns inside looked almost striped with their multi-colored marble.

I loved the streets in Siena. It seemed like every corner you turned, it was another cool picture opportunity.

Tomorrow I will post about our Chianti tour. I may have to bust that one up into two posts because I have a ton of pictures from it. Ciao!
