it's a joy

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."

Chianti Part One

Probably my most favorite tour we took was one of the Chianti Classico area. It was a tour through the countryside up to the Castello D'Albola winery that made Chianti Classico wine. We then toured the cellars, tasted some wine and then took the bus back through the countryside stopping at a couple little medieval towns along the way back. It was so completely laid back and it was a relief not to be lectured about the history of a sculpture or a painting for once.

On the way to the winery, our bus went up onto this tall hill so we could get out for a picture. It was a little smoky, but the view was incredible.

These are out-the-window-of-the-bus shots, so they aren't that great. But, hopefully you can still appreciate the scenery.

Olive grove with a close-up of the tiny little olives. They harvest these in December.

The cellars felt so good and cool and smelled like rotten grapes. :) Just how they should smell, I guess.

These are a couple shots around the winery. It was so cute and picturesque. It just begged you to take a picture of everything.

Here we are at the actual wine tasting. Normally I don't like Chianti that much, but it must have been the atmosphere that made it taste pretty dang good.

During the wine tasting, I snuck away and into the vineyard because I, for some reason, thought it was necessary to get a picture of grapes. I have a bit of my mother in me that way.

Tomorrow, I will post pictures from the little towns we visited on the way back to Siena.
