it's a joy

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."

Our second day in Venice, the first thing we did was head down to Piazza San Marco.

Here is a good shot of San Marco Basilica. We never did make it inside because the lines were always hours and hours long. But, the outside was really beautiful, so I can't imagine what the inside looked like.

Here is a view of the Basilica from the another direction with Palazzo Ducale beside it on the right.

Nerds.

This the Bridge of Sighs, which links the Palazzo Ducale with the old prisons. Supposedly it's named for the sighs of the prisoners as they were taken to trial.

We weren't allowed to take pictures while inside the palace, but here is a picture of the center courtyard.

This is a picture from the Bridge of Sighs pointing towards the place where the picture above was taken.

Here are a few of the domes of the Basilica.

This clock tower was cool because those statues up on top actually moved and hit the bell with their hammers to chime on the hour.

Tomorrow, I will fill you in on our exciting experiences with boats in Venice.
